 Ana Rita Batista

Ana Batista has a master degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from the University of Porto. She made her curricular internship in the Neurocognition and Language (NCL) research group, where she worked in experimental research on cognition and language. She is research assistant at the Time2Read project. Her research interests include language, reading and cognition, using behavioral and EEG methods.

Carlos dos Santos Luiz

Carlos dos Santos Luiz has a degree (New University of Lisbon) and master (University of Coimbra) in Musical Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Education Sciences/Psychology of Music from the University of Aveiro with a grant from the FCT. He is professor at the Polytechnic School of Education of Coimbra, teaching several subjects related to Acoustics. He participated in national and international conferences and published articles and book chapters in the areas of Psychoacoustics and Educational Sciences/Psychology of Music in national and international journals.

Dinis Catronas

Dinis Catronas has a master’s degree in Cognitive Neurosciences and Neuropsychology from the UAlg – Universidade do Algarve. His dissertation focused on the influence of sensorimotor training in learning a novel script and used oculomotor data. Currently, Dinis Catronas is a research assistant at this project. His main research interests relate to reading, language, time perception, and artificial language.

José Sousa

José Sousa is a specialist in Clinical/Health Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Special Education Needs. He is particularly interested in Specific Learning Disorders and ADHD. Besides his clinical experience as a psychologist, José Sousa started collaborating with the Neurocognition and Language Research Group (at FPCEUP) in 2019.

Nathercia Lima Torres

Nathércia Torres is a Ph.D. student at the University of Porto under the supervision of Professor São Luís Castro and Dr. Susana Silva. Her research focuses on the role of visual movement in temporal processing and its implication for theories of human cognition. Her work attempts to grasp the temporal processing diversity as a way of discovering the role that temporal processing plays in our everyday cognition.

São Luís Castro

São Luís Castro is a full professor of Psychology at the University of Porto, and the Co-PI of this project. Her background is in experimental psychology and neuropsychology, and the focus of her research is on how experience shapes the function and structure of language and cognition.
She is also interested in how literacy and speech connect with music, rhythm, and timing.
Current research interests include speech prosody and music cognition, dyslexia, and neuroplasticity. She is past president of the Portuguese Association for Experimental Psychology, APPE (2011-2017).

Susana Silva

Susana Silva is the PI of this project. She is an assistant researcher at the Neurocognition and Language Research Group, Faculty of Psychology at the University of Porto. Inspired by her dual background in Music and Psychology, she became interested in the cognitive processes fundamental to both music and language, and in the similarities or differences between them. She has been investigating temporal processing, implicit learning, and reading, using behavioral, eye-tracking, and EEG methods.

Vasiliki Folia

Vasiliki Folia holds a BSc Psychology degree (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece) and an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience (Radboud University, The Netherlands). Her Ph.D. in Medical Sciences (Clinical Neurosciences) was obtained in Karolinska Institutet in 2013 in collaboration with Max Planck for Psycholinguistics (MPI, the Netherlands). From 2009 to 2018, Vasiliki Folia worked as an Associate Professor at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. As of 2021, she started teaching at Aristotle University, School of Psychology.
